Based on the phenomena in the field, there are still many students who show characteristics of a fixed mindset, such as underestimating their abilities, being afraid of facing challenges, and only doing things they like. This has a negative impact on the development of students' potential and reduces their enthusiasm for learning. Based on these problems, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance with problem-solving techniques in improving the growth mindset of students at Hasanuddin Islamic High School. The approach used is quantitative with an experimental design of the one group pretest-posttest type.
The population in this study were all 28 students of class X MA Hasanuddin, with sampling using a purposive sampling technique that resulted in 6 subjects who had low growth mindset scores. The intervention was carried out in four group guidance sessions using problem solving techniques designed to train critical thinking and problem solving skills. The instrument used was a growth mindset questionnaire based on Dweck's theory, and the data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test because the data distribution was not normal (based on the Shapiro-Wilk test). The results of the analysis showed the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.028 (p <0.05), which means there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. This finding proves that group guidance with problem solving techniques is effective in improving students' growth mindset. Therefore, this approach can be adopted by BK teachers as an intervention strategy to develop positive mindsets and students' potential optimally.
