Abstract
Trait and factor counseling helps students plan careers and make career
decisions and how to match the traits that exist in a person with factors that exist
in an environment. In addition, it is combined using modeling techniques to acquire
new skills and foster motivation in students. The purpose of this study is to analyze
and improve the career understanding of MTs Ghozaliyah students.
The research design used in this study is an experimental pretest-posttest
one group design, which is then analyzed by t-test. The population of this study were
students of class VIII C MTs Ghozaliyah who only took one class of 32 students.
The sample used was 6 students who were taken through purposive sampling
technique with certain criteria.
The instruments used in this study were a career understanding
questionnaire and a trait and factor counseling implementation guide using
modeling techniques. The career understanding instrument consists of 40 statement
items tested for validity which resulted in 22 valid statement items. So it is
concluded that the student understanding questionnaire can be used to help
students understand their careers.
Based on the results of data analysis using the t-test, the pretest is obtained
with an average result of 39.8 while the posttest results have an average value of
80.16 from these results, the t-test calculation is carried out with a significance
value of t-count which is -37.165 smaller than t table -2.571 which means that it
can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that trait and
facotor counseling using modeling techniques is effective for improving students'
career understanding.
