Abstract
Maslich, 19010018. The Effect of Communication and Interaction between English Speaking Students on the Ability to Understand Spoken and Written English Texts of Class VII Students of MTsN 12 Jombang. ABSTRACT
This study aims to determine the effect of communication on the ability to understand oral and written text, the effect of interaction between English-speaking students on the ability to understand oral and written text, and the effect of communication and interaction between English-speaking students together on the ability to understand oral and written text.
This research is a quantitative research with expost-facto research design. This study is a population study, because all seventh grade students at MTs N 12 Jombang were taken. Data collection techniques using tests. The data analysis technique used simple regression analysis and multiple regression analysis.
The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of communication on the ability to understand oral and written text with a coefficient of determination of 0.479 (r = 0.013 and t = 6.251 with a significance value of 0.000). There is a positive and significant effect of interaction between English-speaking students on the ability to understand oral and written texts with a coefficient of determination of 0.329 (r = 0.142 and t = 4.838 with a significance value of 0.001). There is a positive and significant effect of communication and interaction between English-speaking students together on the ability to understand oral and written texts with a coefficient of determination of 0.535 (r = 0.071 and F = 19.665 with a significance value of 0.000).
