Abstract

Self-control is Self-control is a person's ability to understand their own situation and environment and the skills to manage and control behavior according to the situation and conditions. Self-control is needed so that individuals can guide, direct and regulate aspects of their behavior which ultimately lead to the desired positive consequences, however, if an individual's self-control is low, negative behavior will occur. On the other hand, if self-control is high, positive behavior will be obtained.
The method used in this study is quantitative with a one group pretest posttest design. This researcher used a research questionnaire with a liket scale measurement tested with SPSS 22 for Windows. then the validity and reliability tests were conducted. The subjects of this study were students in class X – MP1. Then the sample was 8 students who had low self-control. by using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test using SPSS 22 for Windows.
The results of the study showed that behavioral group counseling with modeling techniques was effective in increasing self-control of students at Mojoagung State Vocational High School. This can be proven by analyzing the Paired Samples Test data with (sig < 0.05) which is indicated by a significant value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, so HO is rejected and Ha is accepted. so it can be concluded that there is an average difference between the pretest and posttest results, which means that behavioral group counseling can improve self-control of students in vocational schools.
