Abstract
The role of parents is very important for the development of children, especially in
adolescence. Emotional support, open communication, and parental involvement
are needed to develop children's potential or abilities, especially in the academic
field. This study aims to describe the level of parental emotional involvement in
children's enthusiasm for learning during adolescence at State Islamic Junior
High School 1 Jombang, measure the influence between these two variables, and
identify supporting and inhibiting factors in this involvement.
This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational method.
Data collection techniques were conducted through questionnaires, observation,
documentation, and interviews. The population in this study was 523 students, and
the sample taken was 20% of the population, namely 104 students in grades VII
and VIII.
The results of data analysis using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test
showed an r value of 0.529, which is in the fairly strong category, with the
calculated r value greater than the table r value. The coefficient of determination
(R²) calculation shows that parental emotional involvement contributes 28% to
children's enthusiasm for learning, while the remaining 72% is influenced by
other factors.
The conclusion of this study is that the level of parental emotional involvement
and children's enthusiasm for learning are relatively high, and there is a
significant influence between parental emotional involvement and children's
enthusiasm for learning during adolescence at MTsN 1 Jombang. It is also
recommended for parents to increase emotional support for children through the
facilities provided by the madrasah, namely increasing collaboration activities
with parents so that they can foster children's enthusiasm for learning.
