Abstract

Siti Faizah : The Application of the Memorization Method Using Nadhom as an Effort to Train the Memory Ability of Sixth Grade Students in the Local Religious Subject at SDN Brangkal I, Bandarkedungmulyo Jombang, Islamic Education Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Darul Ulum Jombang, 2025.

The memorization method using nadhom is a memorization technique in which students memorize specific texts or sentences from the religious books they study. The memorized material is usually in the form of rhythmic verses (nadhom), making this technique mechanical, continuous, and sequential. This study aims to determine the process, obstacles, and solutions in implementing the nadhom memorization method at SDN Brangkal I.
This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method, motivated by the phenomenon that religion-based learning materials are often difficult for students to memorize and comprehend. The study was conducted in the sixth-grade classroom of SDN Brangkal I, using observation and interviews as data collection techniques. The researcher observed and interviewed the principal, supervising teacher, and students to obtain data, which were then analyzed in depth.
In implementing the nadhom memorization method, several stages were carried out, including preparation and consultation with the principal, preparing teaching modules and media, and carrying out the learning plan in the classroom. As with any method, several obstacles were encountered during implementation. These included a lack of student interest, difficulties in reading Arab Pegon script, boredom, differences in students’ abilities, and the presence of students with special needs.
To address these challenges, teachers were required to be responsive and find immediate solutions to ensure that learning could continue effectively. The solutions included giving verbal reminders to inattentive students, conducting lessons with simple and engaging steps suitable for all learners, explaining the benefits and importance of the material, providing additional assistance to students with learning difficulties, and identifying the root causes of problems to determine the most appropriate follow-up methods.
