This study aims to determine the correlation between permissive parenting style and self-control with Islamic religiosity among muslim students of Grade X in the TKR Automotive expertise concentration at SMK Negeri Wonosalam Jombang for the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used is quantitative, with a sample of 69 respondents determined through a saturated sampling technique. Primary data collection employed a questionnaire instrument using a Likert scale. The questionnaire included three scales: Islamic religiosity scale, permissive parenting scale, and self-control scale, all of which were tested for validity and reliability using SPSS Statistics 25.0.
The data analysis technique for testing the first hypothesis used multiple linear regression analysis (F-test), while the second and third hypotheses were tested using partial correlation analysis (t-test). The results showed that simultaneously, permissive parenting style and self-control significantly influence Islamic religiosity (F = 14.025; p < 0.05) with a determination coefficient (R²) of 0.298. Partially, permissive parenting has a significant negative effect on religiosity (β = -0.146; p = 0.015), while self-control has a significant positive effect on Islamic religiosity (β = 0.196; p = 0.008). These findings indicate that: first, permissive parenting and self-control jointly affect religiosity; second, the higher the level of permissive parenting, the lower the level of religiosity, and vice versa—the lower the permissive parenting, the higher the religiosity; and third, the higher the self-control, the higher the religiosity, and the lower the self-control, the lower the religiosity.
Based on these findings, it is recommended that parents avoid applying a permissive parenting style and that schools intensify adolescent self-control development programs in order to enhance their Islamic religiosity.
