Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the understanding of scouting education and the social skills of students at SMP Sains Tebuireng. The understanding of scouting education includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, as well as values and character internalization. Meanwhile, social skills encompass observational learning, positive reinforcement, cognitive processes, and self-confidence. The subjects of this study were male eighth-grade students of SMP Sains Tebuireng. A total of 105 eighth-grade students were selected as respondents, out of 348 male students from grades VII to IX. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a scale as the research instrument. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation test. Based on the statistical results, the correlation coefficient was obtained at rₓᵧ = 0.602 with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) and an R² value of 0.363. These findings indicate a significant positive correlation between the understanding of scouting education and social skills. The results suggest that 36.3% of the variability in social skills can be explained by the understanding of scouting education, implying that the better students’ understanding of scouting education, the higher their social skills will be.
