Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to understand and describe the extent of the village head's
role in the management of the Sumber Makmur Village-Owned Enterprise
(BUMDes), to identify the economic empowerment impact generated by BUMDes
Sumber Makmur on the community of Sentul Village, and to identify the obstacles
faced by the village head in developing BUMDes Sumber Makmur. This thesis uses
a qualitative descriptive research method with the purpose of exploring in depth the
role of the village head in community economic empowerment through BUMDes.
The results of this research show that the village head has carried out his role,
although various challenges were found during the process of economic
empowerment through BUMDes in practice. The roles played by the village head
include acting as an advisor, giving suggestions and opinions, and overseeing the
implementation of economic empowerment programs carried out by BUMDes.
However, several obstacles were encountered, including issues related to
management, human resources, capital, changing market behavior, and the social
environment. These challenges hinder the process of economic empowerment
through BUMDes in Sentul Village.
