Abstract

Early adulthood is a stage of development characterized by various demands, both
personally and socially, which can affect an individual's level of self-acceptance.
Self-acceptance is an individual's ability to accept their shortcomings and strengths
positively. One of the factors that can affect self-acceptance is social support, which
is the help individuals get from their social environment, such as family, friends,
and partners. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support
and self-acceptance in early adult individuals. This study uses quantitative methods
with a correlational approach. The research sample consisted of 110 early adult
individuals (aged 18-30 years) selected using Purposive Random Sampling
technique. The instruments used in this study were the social support scale and the
self-acceptance scale, which were adapted and tested for validity and reliability.
Data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation test. The results showed a
significant positive relationship between social support and self-acceptance in
early adulthood with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.664 with a significance
of 0.000 (p <0.05). This means that the higher the social support received by
individuals, the higher the level of self-acceptance. Strong social support,
especially from family and close friends, helps individuals in facing life challenges
and improves psychological well-being, which ultimately has an impact on better
self-acceptance.
