Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between future orientation and interest in continuing S2 studies in students who are taking thesis courses at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Darul 'Ulum University, Jombang. This research is a type of quantitative research using correlational research. The research subjects were 29 which were divided into 2 gender groups, namely: 13 females and 16 males who were selected through the quota sampling technique. The data collection method was carried out through the distribution of questionnaires offline and online using google forms using the future orientation scale to measure future orientation and the S2 study interest scale to measure interest in continuing S2 studies. Data analysis techniques are carried out.
The data analysis technique was carried out using the percentage in this study, which is the Sperman Rho correlation technique with the Product Moment Correlation formula. The results of the data research show that there is a positive influence between future orientation and interest in continuing S2 in students of the Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Darul 'Ulum University, Jombang, Class of 2020, which is very significant, where an rxy of 47.19% is obtained, when interpreted with an "r" value, the product moment can be concluded that it is 47.19% of interest in continuing S2 studies is determined by future orientation, while 52.80% of interest in continuing S2 studies is determined by other factors. This shows that there is a very significant positive relationship between future orientation and interest in continuing S2 studies, so the hypothesis of this study is accepted. This shows that the higher the future orientation of the students, the higher the interest in continuing their S2 studies. Likewise, if the future orientation of students is low, then the interest in continuing their S2 studies will be low
