Abstract

Tradition has become a culture that has values in the life of society as time goes by, experiencing improvements and structural relevance. Rites of passage take the form of celebrations related to belief and religion. Rites are characterized by specificity and give rise to sacred experiences (Geertz 2014). One of the rites used to strengthen hope is ruwatan. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observations and documents, while determining informants was carried out using purposive techniques. Meanwhile, data analysis uses a qualitative analysis model with data validity techniques using triangulation. The results of the research found in this study are: (1) The form of ruah deso in Jatirowo Village carrying agricultural products, praying together, art exhibitions and lectures about the invitation to live in harmony amidst the diversity of the village which was held in cok telon. (2) The meaning of Ruah Deso in Jatirowo village reflects the diversity of religions, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Javanese beliefs in the form of Abangan, thereby constructing spiritual values, socio-economic values and diversity values (solidarity, tolerance and mutual cooperation).
