ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF ROAD WIDENING ON THE PERFORMANCE OF PANGLIMA SUDIRMAN JOMBANG ROAD SECTION

ABSTRACT
Road widening is one of the actions that can be used as a solution to increase road capacity so that the road will be able to accommodate more traffic volume. Jalan Panglima Sudirman is a type of 2-lane 2-way undivided road (2/2TT) which has widened the road. This research is to compare the capacity and performance of the road before and after the widening, knowing the degree of saturation before and after widening the road, and knowing the effect of road widening on improving traffic performance. The survey was conducted for 3 days during the morning peak hour 06.00 - 08.00, afternoon peak hour 12.00-14.00, and afternoon peak hour 16.00-18.00. The calculation method in this study uses the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI 2014) for Outer City Roads From the analysis results, it was found that the widening of the road section affected the capacity and traffic performance of Panglima Sudirman Road with an increase in capacity in segment 1 by 4.95% which before widening the capacity value was 4789 smp / hour to 5026 smp / hour and segment 2 experienced an increase of 4.96% which before widening the capacity value was 4937 smp / hour to 5128 smp / hour. The increase in traffic performance is evidenced by the decrease in the degree of saturation (DJ) value on segment 1 before widening of 0.62 to 0.59 after widening and on segment 2 of 0.87 to 0.83 after widening. The effect of widening makes traffic flow stable as evidenced by the increase in capacity and performance of the Panglima Sudirman Road section.
