Abstract

Dedy Johnza: The Efforts of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in Fostering Student Morality at Muhammadiyah 1 Elementary School, Kesamben District, Blitar Regency, Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Darul Ulum University, Jombang, 2025.

This study aims to describe and analyze the efforts of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in fostering student morality at Muhammadiyah 1 Elementary School, Kesamben, Blitar Regency. The background of this research stems from the important role of PAI teachers as educators who not only convey religious knowledge but also serve as role models in students' daily behavior. This study aims to determine the extent to which PAI teachers are able to shape student character through a learning approach integrated with the values of akhlakul karimah (good morals).
The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews with PAI teachers, direct observation of the learning process and school activities, and documentation to supplement the data. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman approach, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data triangulation was used to test the validity of the data obtained.
Research results show that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers at Muhammadiyah 1 Kesamben Elementary School implement various strategies for developing moral character, including exemplary behavior in politeness, discipline, and religiousness; fostering the habit of daily worship such as Dhuha prayer, dhikr (remembrance of God), muroja'ah (religious reflection), and Dzuhur prayer in congregation; teaching the values of honesty, responsibility, and humility; and providing motivation in the form of praise and additional credits. Furthermore, teachers administer educational punishments to foster student discipline. These efforts have a positive impact on students' moral development, such as increased politeness, time discipline, concern for the environment, and perseverance in worship. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers have been shown to play a central role in developing students' moral character through a systematic and consistent approach.
