Abstract

The advancement of construction technology has encouraged the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) as a more efficient and accurate planning method compared to conventional techniques. In bridge abutment work, the accuracy of concrete and reinforcement volume calculations is crucial. This study compares the results of volume calculations for reinforcement and concrete using BIM and conventional methods, with a case study of the Brugan Bridge project in Mojokerto. The BIM model was developed using Autodesk Revit 2022, while the conventional method relied on Microsoft Excel based on 2D construction drawings. The results show that the reinforcement volume calculated with BIM was 17,515.04 kg, while the conventional method produced 17,670.38 kg—a difference of 155.34 kg or 0.88%. The concrete volume calculated with BIM was 150.520 m³, compared to 149.865 m³ using the conventional method—a difference of 0.665 m³ or 0.44%. These findings indicate that BIM provides more detailed and accurate estimations due to comprehensive modeling that accounts for all structural elements, including reinforcement overlaps and splicing.
