Abstract
Ariantiningse, Novi. 2025. The Impact of the Implementation of the Child Protection Law on the Authority of Teachers at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Miftahul Huda Tanjunganom Diwek Jombang. Undergraduate Thesis, Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Darul ‘Ulum University, Jombang.
This study aims to examine the impact of the implementation of Law No. 17 of 2016 on Child Protection on the authority of teachers in educating and shaping students' character at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Miftahul Huda, Tanjunganom, Diwek, Jombang. The background of this research is based on the dilemma faced by teachers in giving educational punishment, which is often misinterpreted as violence, causing fear, anxiety, and uncertainty in enforcing student discipline.
This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with the head of the madrasah, teachers, and parents, as well as documentation.
The results indicate that the law significantly protects children's rights in educational settings but also limits teachers’ ability to provide educational punishment. Many teachers feel they have lost authority in maintaining discipline due to fear of their actions being reported as abuse.
The study concludes that the Child Protection Law provides positive protection for children, but negatively impacts teachers' authority if not accompanied by comprehensive understanding and training on acceptable disciplinary limits. Therefore, thorough legal socialization is needed so that character education can run effectively within legal boundaries.
