Children are family members whose development must be given proper attention from an early
age, particularly in terms of their behavior and morality. Moral education for children is directed
toward building a meaningful life. Such education must begin within the family environment
through proper guidance and exemplary models so that children become accustomed to good
habits. This research aims to determine the influence of parents’ exemplary behavior on the
morality of children at Madrasah Diniyah Assalam Karangwungu, Balongpanggang, Gresik.
This study employed a quantitative research method with a correlational approach. The research
population consisted of all 117 students of Madrasah Assalam Gresik at the wustho and
awwaliyah levels, from which a sample of 30 students was taken. Data collection techniques
included observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed statistically
using the product moment correlation formula.
The results show that based on the product moment correlation analysis, parents’ exemplary
behavior has a correlation with the formation of children’s morality, with a correlation index
(rxy) = 0.591. This result, when interpreted at the 5% significance level (0.3610) and the 1%
significance level (0.4629), indicates that rxy is greater than both significance thresholds.
Therefore, Ha is accepted, and Ho is rejected. This means that there is a positive influence
between parents’ exemplary behavior and the formation of children’s morality at Madrasah
Diniyah Assalam Gresik, with the influence categorized as moderate.
