Abstract

Adequate access to clean water, both in quality and quantity, is a crucial factor in
supporting daily community activities. In Jati Banjar Village, Ploso District,
Jombang Regency, many PDAM customers have complained about low water
pressure, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening. This study aims
to analyze the existing water pressure conditions, identify the factors causing low
pressure, and evaluate the effectiveness of using booster pumps as a technical
solution. The methods used include field observation, water pressure measurement
with a manometer, and direct interviews with customers. The results show that
water pressure before the installation of booster pumps was in the range of 0.0–0.2
bar, far below the ideal standard. The main contributing factors to low pressure
include the long distance from the water treatment plant, pipeline leakages, the
absence of a zoning system (DMA), and the lack of booster pumps. After technical
improvements, including booster pump installation and DMA zoning, water
pressure significantly increased to 1.5–2.0 bar. This improvement directly enhanced
customer satisfaction and household activities. The study concludes that
implementing booster pump systems is an effective solution for optimizing water
pressure, particularly in areas with low distribution pressure.
