Abstract

Cultural diplomacy is a part of public diplomacy by introducing the culture of a particular country to other countries to build mutual trust and know each other. Interest in Japanese cultural products has become a hobby, lifestyle, and even a profession. The proliferation of restaurants with Japanese specialties, the many communities of Manga and Anime lovers. By using qualitative research, the concept of cultural diplomacy, the theory of bilateral relations, and general studies on manga and anime, the author concludes that manga and anime are a bridge for all modern and traditional Japanese cultures. The interest in Japanese popular culture has made Indonesians very consumptive of anything related to Japan. Japan is a country with thousands of different cultures, Japanese culture today, especially Japanese popular culture such as anime, manga , and video games is growing rapidly, especially in terms of cultural diplomacy with other countries such as Indonesia. Japan uses Soft Power theory, which prioritizes cultural diplomacy to establish friendly relations with other countries and spread its own culture. Because of this, Japan was able to implement its Soft Power in Indonesia which eventually led to several collaborations in many sectors in Indonesia.
