Abstract
Abstract
Flooding is one of the most frequent natural disasters affecting Jombok Village, located in Kesamben Sub-district, Jombang Regency. This recurring event has driven residents to continuously adapt by developing collective habits passed down through generations. This study aims to analyze how the community's habitus is formed in response to flood disasters and how the Disaster Emergency Starter Pack (DISESPACK) model can be implemented as a form of community-based preparedness. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Informants include village officials and residents of Dusun Beluk who are directly affected by flooding. The findings indicate that the community has developed certain adaptive behaviors, such as moving belongings to higher places, building temporary levees, and implementing basic evacuation systems. However, these adaptive strategies remain reactive and are not yet organized within a comprehensive preparedness framework. The DISESPACK model—which includes training for housewives, the provision of emergency backpacks, and digital-based disaster awareness—offers an innovative solution to enhance community resilience. The integration of local habitus with modern educational approaches is essential to establishing sustainable flood mitigation efforts in Jombok Village.
