Abstract
The Kediri-Kertosono road in Kediri Regency is one of the road sections in Kediri Regency that connects the city and rural areas. This road tends to be congested, with a relatively small capacity as an inter-regency connector. This study aims to analyze the impact of road widening on traffic performance on the Kediri-Kertosono road section in Kediri Regency. With three main problem statements, this research identifies the maximum traffic volume crossing the road section, the performance of the road section before and after widening, and the impact of road widening on traffic performance. The research methods include field surveys for geometric road measurements and vehicle volume, as well as analysis of lateral obstructions affecting traffic flow. Geometric data were collected to calculate road capacity using formulas according to the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI). In addition, a vehicle volume survey was conducted to obtain a recapitulation of road use based on vehicle type, which was then converted into passenger car units (PCU). Analysis was conducted to identify the values of delay and degree of saturation of the road section. The results of the analysis show that the maximum traffic volume on the Kediri-Kertosono road section in direction 1 is 770 PCU/hour and in direction 2 is 828 PCU/hour. The capacity of the Kediri-Kertosono road section after widening is 4840 PCU/hour and before widening is 4000 PCU/hour. The widening carried out on the Kediri-Kertosono road section impacted the Degree of Saturation (Dj) from 0.44 to 0.33, Travel Time (Wt) from 0.028 hours to 0.025 hours, Basic Free Flow Speed (VB,MP) from 60 km/hour to 65 km/hour, and Degree of Headway (Di) from 0.66m to 0.60m.
