As in other developing countries, Indonesia also experiences updates to adapt to current circumstances and times. If deemed no longer relevant, the existing law will be abolished and replaced with a new one. This is what happened with Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning marriage, specifically Article 7, which regulates the age limit for marriage. The new law will have an impact both on society and within law enforcement. The Religious Court's decision in adjudicating marriage dispensation cases must also be in accordance with the evidence and testimony presented during the trial to avoid violating the applicable law. This study employed qualitative descriptive research and a legal approach, applying data and statements obtained from interactions between the researcher, the research subjects, and the people present at the research site. The data analysis technique employed was data reduction, which means combining and determining core data, and focusing on the essentials. The results of this study indicate that the enactment of Law Number 16 of 2019 impacted the Magetan Religious Court, with a surge in applications for marriage dispensations at the beginning of the new law's enactment and a decrease in the number of applications for early marriage dispensations the following year. However, this was also accompanied by the enactment of Supreme Court Regulation Number 5 of 2019, which regulates the procedures for adjudicating early marriage dispensation cases, making trials more complex than before. Judges also consider the detrimental impacts of a rejected application.
