Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between secure attachment to father and self-confidence in adolescent girls. Secure attachment is characterized by trust, open communication, and emotional closeness between a child and her father. Self-confidence is defined as an individual’s belief in their own abilities and self-worth. The subjects of this study were 69 female students at MTsN 5 Jombang, aged 12–16 years, who live with their fathers. This research employed a correlational quantitative approach, using secure attachment and self-confidence scales that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis using one-tailed Pearson correlation showed a significant positive relationship between secure attachment to father and self-confidence in adolescent girls, with an r value of 0.356 and p = 0.001 (p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (r²) was 0.1270, indicating that secure attachment contributed 12.70% to the self-confidence variable, while the remaining percentage was influenced by other factors. These findings support existing theories and previous studies stating that a secure and supportive emotional relationship with the father plays an important role in the development of self-confidence in adolescent girls.
