Abstract

Human trafficking in Indonesia is a complex issue that continues to threaten human rights and social security. As a country with a large population and high migration rates, Indonesia is vulnerable to human trafficking practices, whether as a country of origin, transit, or destination. The main contributing factors include poverty, low levels of education, gender inequality, and weak law enforcement. Furthermore, a lack of public awareness and inadequate protection for vulnerable groups, such as women, children, and migrant workers, exacerbate the situation. Victims of human trafficking are often exploited for forced labor, sex trafficking, or forced marriage. Although the Indonesian government has taken preventative measures through legal regulations, such as Law No. 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Human Trafficking, and increased international cooperation, significant challenges remain. Effective prevention efforts require a multifaceted approach, including strengthening legal regulations, improving coordination between government agencies, and educational campaigns to raise public awareness. Furthermore, the protection and rehabilitation of victims must be prioritized to ensure justice and the restoration of their rights.
