Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reliability of the 20 kV distribution system at PT PLN (Persero) ULP Pasuruan Kota using the SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index) and SAIFI (System Average Interruption Frequency Index) methods. The research is grounded in data collected over the last three years (2021-2023), offering a detailed examination of the system’s performance trends and identifying potential areas for improvement.
The SAIDI and SAIFI indices are crucial metrics in assessing the reliability of power distribution systems, as they quantify the average duration and frequency of interruptions experienced by customers within a given timeframe. In 2021, the analysis revealed that the average SAIDI was 0.1371 hours/customer/year, and the SAIFI was 0.2687 times/customer/year. These values were not only below the national standard set by SPLN 68-2: 1986 but also significantly lower than the international standard IEEE Std P1366-2003, highlighting the high reliability of the distribution system at that time.
In 2022, there was a slight increase in both indices, with the SAIDI rising to 0.1407 hours/customer/year and the SAIFI to 0.3174 times/customer/year. Although these increases indicated a minor decline in performance, the values remained well within acceptable limits, suggesting that the system continued to perform reliably and efficiently despite the fluctuations. By 2023, the system’s reliability showed remarkable improvement. The SAIDI decreased substantially to 0.0516 hours/customer/year, and the SAIFI dropped to 0.0995 times/customer/year. These improvements not only demonstrated a significant enhancement in the system’s performance but also surpassed the expectations set by both national and international standards, reinforcing the ULP Pasuruan Kota distribution system's position as a highly reliable and efficient network.
The comprehensive analysis of these three years underscores the ongoing efforts and successes in improving the reliability of the distribution system at ULP Pasuruan Kota. The findings of this study provide actionable insights and recommendations for further enhancements, focusing on minimizing interruptions, optimizing system performance, and ultimately increasing customer satisfaction. The continued monitoring and analysis of SAIDI and SAIFI indices will be essential in sustaining and advancing the reliability of the power distribution network in the future.
