Abstract
This research was conducted because many public drains are polluted due to
detergent waste from both households and laundry businesses, so efforts are needed
to overcome this problem. The efforts made in this research are the implementation
of the filtration method, so this research aims to determine the influence of the
filtration method on processing detergent waste as clean water. This type of
research is quantitative research. The data collection techniques used are
observation and documentation. Through the research results, it can be seen that
implementing the filtration method for detergent waste can provide better results if
the filter media used is thicker and has passed filtration in the absorption well. The
application of the filtration method affects the characteristic parameters of clean
water, such as smell, taste, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, pH, e-coli, where in this
study the results were close to the best in experiments with a thickness of 20 cm.
Based on the experiments that have been carried out, a filtration chamber design
can be made with a predetermined size and the thickness of the filter media can be
made into a multiple of 3 from the best experiment, namely 60 cm. Applying the
design that has been made requires preparing a budget plan for each job with a total
cost of IDR 8.382.774.
