Abstract
Islam has regulated everything related to the lives of Muslims. Likewise regarding leaders and leadership which have been regulated in Islamic Sharia law. Naturally, humans have the title of a leader attached to them, whether at a high level such as a state leader or a leader themselves.
The problems examined in this research are 1) What is the concept of leadership in the Qur'an from the perspective of the book Tafsir al-Asas fi> al-Tafsi>r and the book Fii Dzilalil Qur'an, and how do the two books compare in terms of the caliphate. The aim of this research is to describe the concept of leadership in the Qur'an from the perspective of the book Tafsir al-Asas fi> al-Tafsi>r and the book Fii Dzilalil Qur'an and how the two commentators compare.
The research is library research using qualitative methods. The analysis used is the muqarran method. The data sources were obtained from the Tafsir Al-Asas Fi> Al-Tafsi>r by Sa'id Hawwa and Tafsir Fi Dzilalil Qur'an by Sayyid Quthub, books that discuss the concept of leadership, as well as other references that can support this research.
The results of this research are that Sa'id Hawwa considers all matters related to the caliphate to be the responsibility of all Muslims. And Sayyid Qutb believes that the person who becomes (Caliph) is a choice, has absolute freedom, has the authority to apply God's law. In interpreting surah al-Baqarah: 30 Sa'id Hawwa explains that the caliphate verse is a command to appoint a caliph, and sayyid Qutbh explains that the caliphate in this verse is the appointment of the Prophet Adam as caliph. The interpretation of the caliph in Surah Sad: 26 according to Sa'id Hawwa is caliph al-nubuwwah, while according to Sayyid Qutuhb this verse explains the test to become caliph on earth.
