Abstract

Abstract

The use of LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) can help the community for their cooking and business activities. Besides being used by the community, LPG is also a threat. This is when there is a gas leak in the LPG. Due to the odorless LPG gas at the beginning of its launch, it is difficult to determine whether the gas cylinder is leaking or not. Realizing the danger, Pertamina took the initiative to add mercaptan gas with a very distinctive smell. This is a powerful method, we can determine if a gas cylinder is leaking just by our sense of smell. Gas leaks can be caused by several factors, including improperly installed hoses, pipes, or regulators, or poor quality due to physical damage to the gas cylinders being shipped. This study aims to produce a gas leak detector using the MQ-2 sensor as a gas sensor, GSM (Global System for Mobile) module as an SMS notification sender to the user's cellphone, and Arduino Uno as a liaison between different systems and several others. The goal is to design a LPG gas leak detector. The working mechanism of this tool is that when the MQ-2 sensor detects LPG gas, the sensor will send the data to Arduino, which will then send instructions to the GSM module to send notification messages to the user's cellphone.
